Many concepts and story tropes that were introduced in this run would further reappear along in other stories by Morrison, but most notably his cerebral style of storytelling really finds some roots in this series. Grant Morrison’s run on Animal Man was one of his first american works, and really paved the way for the rest of his work at DC comics. This review isn’t necessarily for the story inside, because we know how I feel about that one already, but for the quality of this book, and whether it’s worth picking up in this format whether it be for the first time or to replace your old paperback volumes. It’s still my favorite for many reasons, and now DC and Vertigo have just recently re-released it in the omnibus format. My first review on this website was for my favorite comic run ever, Grant Morrison’s Animal Man.
